Okanagan Community Foundations Partner to Fund Social Causes – Vernon News
Okanagan Community Foundations are collaborating to provide social enterprises with up to $75,000.
The Investment Readiness Program is part of a $50 million national initiative implemented by Community Foundations of Canada and funded by the federal government.
The program is open to a wide range of organizations and businesses, including charities, nonprofits, cooperatives and social enterprises.
It can provide $10,000 to $75,000 to create, manage and grow social enterprises “to prepare to accept investments”.
“There are so many inspiring community leaders looking to make a difference in new and innovative ways,” said Leanne Hammond, Executive Director of Community Foundation North Okanagan.
“We look forward to seeing the IRP help successful applicants increase their impact even further.”
Andrea Dicks, President of Community Foundations of Canada, adds, “Social enterprise teams from coast to coast are demonstrating how business can be done differently. They dare to rethink business models to create a more sustainable, equitable and inclusive future. Foundations of Canada is in awe of the innovative projects we fund. We look forward to seeing the benefits of this next series of projects under the Investment Readiness Program.
The funding aims to help groups “unlock innovative solutions to social challenges”.
“The opportunity to partner with an initiative that has the potential to have such a significant impact is incredibly appealing,” said Judy Neiser, Executive Director of the Central Okanagan Foundation.
“Whether an organization is a charity, non-profit, co-operative or social purpose enterprise – whether its mission is related to bringing about positive change on social, cultural or environmental challenges – this program helps us fund solutions,” said Aaron McRann of the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan.
The three community foundations run a program for the entire southern interior.
