A new purpose-built nursery is coming soon to Newbury Preparatory School
Horris Hill Preparatory School will expand its family offering from September by welcoming preschoolers to a brand new crèche.
The school, located on the border between Hampshire and Berkshire, is preparing to welcome preschool children for the first time to a specially designed nursery to offer comprehensive care from the start of the next school year.
Construction is already underway on the 65-acre countryside site, and contractors are working hard to deliver the brand new building which will become home to a new cohort of boys and girls, aged two and up.
This is the first time in the school’s 134-year history that it will have a daycare.
Harriet Uwalaka, headmistress of Horris Hill’s Lower School, will manage the nursery, and she said she was “tremendously excited” for it to open in September.
She said: “Feeding young people from an early age in an early childhood education setting brings immense benefits.
“Not only does this help them develop daily routines and good habits, but it also lays the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.
“Our brand new nursery will provide a wonderful environment for our young learners to express themselves and be curious about the world around them, which they will learn to explore alongside their peers.
“Our ethos will be to instill a sense of magic, awe and wonder in children as they navigate their way through the Wonderful Years; a time in their lives when they believe anything is possible.
“We will provide them with an abundance of opportunities to be explorers, scientists, artists and experimenters, both inside and out.”
On June 22, Horris Hill is planning a ‘Big Toddle’ event to support children’s charity, Barnardo’s, to bring more parents and potential carers through the doors so they can see for themselves- what the school grounds and the new crèche will have to offer.
Families can take part in a sponsored, safari-themed walk suitable for little legs, while learning about the nursery and meeting other like-minded parents.
As well as tying ‘Big Toddle’ offering an opportunity to raise much needed funds for an incredibly good cause, the event will help mums and dads find out if Horris Hill is right for them.
John Forsyth, Chairman of Horris Hill School and Managing Director of Forfar Education, owner of the school, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the imminent opening of our wonderful new crèche, which we believe will give our younger children the best start in life.
“Our fully trained, friendly and highly capable Early Years team will breathe life and vitality into the bricks and mortar of the building, making it a home away from home.
“We look forward to welcoming our newest recruit into the comfort and care of our Horris Hill nursery and watching the young minds of our smallest cohort grow and develop over the months and years to come.”
