Impact100 Metro Detroit named Pontiac-based Lighthouse and Detroit-based Midnight Golf as recipients of two $100,000 grants at its annual Big Give event on May 18.

Additionally, Impact100 will split $81,000 among the remaining finalists, Corktown Health, Living Arts and Pontiac Community Foundation, according to a press release.

Based in Pontiac, Lighthouse is a social service agency that provides emergency housing and other services to residents in need. For more information, visit lighthousemi.org. In its grant proposal, Lighthouse plans to use the funds to transform its Center Street facility in Pontiac into a family shelter, adding 54 emergency housing beds for homeless families within the community.

Detroit-based Midnight Golf will use the funds for its College, Career and Beyond initiative.

Grant applications were submitted by local nonprofits in early January and reviewed by Impact100 Metro Detroit members. The winners were revealed at an event at the International Banquet & Conference Center in Detroit.

Founded in 2016, Impact100 Metro Detroit unites women philanthropists to make grants to local nonprofits in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties. Each year, members donate $1,000 for a group grant.

“It was not an easy decision for our 281 members – we were all very moved by the amazing work these organizations are doing in the community and beyond impressed with the submissions we received for this year’s Big Give “, Kelly Walsh, president of Impact100 Metro Detroit, said in the press release.

Past recipients of Impact100 Metro Detroit’s Big Give grants include Freedom House, Developing KIDS, The Lawn Academy, Micah 6 Community, Zaman International, Maggie’s Wigs 4 Kids of Michigan, Downtown Boxing Gym, and The Empowerment Plan.
