Federer has been away from the tour for 10 months now. He last played at Wimbledon in 2021, suffering a quarter-final loss to Hubert Hurkacz. Following the loss, Federer underwent surgery on his right knee. The surgery forced him to stay off the tour for the remaining season.
After being out for a long time, Federer finally started giving hints about his social media handles starting last month. Even though he regularly posted training visuals on social media, one thing that was always missing was the announcement of his comeback tournament.
