Nsukka-born philanthropist declares himself for Nsukka/Igbo-Eze Southern Federal Constituency

A Nsukka-born philanthropist, Dr. Ishiwu Clinton has declared his intention to represent the Federal Constituency of Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South in the National Assembly in 2023, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Stating his aspiration on Wednesday at the party secretariat in Nsukka local government area in Enugu state, Ishiwu, a successful business tycoon said his mission in the National Assembly was to provide quality representation and to attract the dividends of democracy for its constituents as well as to support its philanthropic work. activities for locals.
Ishiwu, who is popularly known as “Above”, explained that his love for the constituency was the reason he made investments in the area, as well as employment and job creation opportunities for many residents.
He announced that he would be paving 6 kilometers of roads in the constituency as part of his philanthropic activities, adding that “this is not politics or campaign strategy as I have concluded plans to begin work on roads before the end of this month.
“I stand here before you to officially declare my ambition to represent Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South in the House of Representatives under the platform of our great PDP party.
“I join you in calling for a change of the guard and making it unequivocally clear that the time has come for Nsukka Local Government as a joint constituency member to produce the next member of the House of Representatives in 2023.
“I am compelled to embark on this journey because of my desire to improve the lot of our people and provide quality representation that will have a positive impact on the lives of voters.
“I ask you to give me your support and your vote in the primary elections as well as to vote for me in the general elections.
“I am one of you, I was born here, raised here and educated here, most of my business is located here, I understand the challenges you face and I also the solution to problems, I will always rely on your partnership to solve the problem,” he said.
Speaking further, the business tycoon said that if elected, his representation would be based on effective feedback through periodic town hall meetings, a functioning constituency office, the youth empowerment and capacity building, community projects, law making and interface with constituency institutions.
While expressing his confidence to win the ticket, Clinton said his people saw what he had done through his philanthropic gesture and would want him to go and represent them.
In response, Mr. Fabian Onah, Chairman of PDP Nsukka LGA, welcomed Ishiwu to the party office and pledged that the party would ensure a level playing field for all aspirants in the upcoming primaries for the 2023 general election.
“As party chairman, I am like a father to all aspirants and would ensure that all candidates have equal opportunities without any discrimination before and during the party primaries,” he said.
Onah, however, praised Ishiwu for his pledge to pave 6 km roads in the constituency whether or not he emerged as the party’s candidate for the House of Representatives.
The declaration was followed by many people in the area, especially young people who took to the main roads of Nsukka town chanting and singing songs of solidarity in support of Ishiwu’s aspiration which they have benefited from its empowerment programs in the past.
