MediThrive plans to donate 100% of sales proceeds to benefit Ukrainian families on Sunday
SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–MediThrive Dispensary and Delivery Service partnered with over 17 cannabis brands in response to the Ukraine crisis. They plan to donate proceeds from Sunday’s in-store and online sales to support those affected by the violence in Ukraine.
On March 6, 2022 at 8:00 a.m., the Mission District Cannabis Dispensary will open its doors to adults 21 and older with a valid ID or passport. All proceeds from cannabis sales collected will be donated to a non-profit organization whose fundraising efforts provide medical and humanitarian aid to those affected by the Russian military invasion of Ukraine.
While many charitable efforts focus on providing food and military aid to Ukraine, medical professionals responding to the crisis in Ukraine are struggling to care for the wounded and sick. They need more medical and survival supplies.
The war in Ukraine
As the Russian invasion intensifies in Ukraine, there are over 2,000 confirmed civilian casualties and over a million refugees have fled the country.
Russian forces shelled schools, hospitals and churches. More than a dozen children died and many more were injured. Hospitals are overwhelmed and running out of basic necessities like antibiotics and oxygen.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine affects the founders of MediThrive. CEO Misha Breyburg and his colleagues are Ukrainian Jewish refugees who immigrated from Odessa, Ukraine, to the United States as children in the 1970s.
MediThrive believes that everyone should have access to quality medicines and healthcare. The Medi in Our Name chronicles our humble beginnings as a medical cannabis dispensary that filled cannabis prescriptions for cancer and AIDS patients.
In the 1990s, the dispensary opened its doors to patients under the United States’ Compassionate Care Act. We are the oldest cannabis dispensary and delivery service location in San Francisco. Today, we are more than just a provider of medical and recreational cannabis; our roots run deep in our community.
On Sunday, March 6, 2022, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., 100% of sales proceeds will be donated to a non-profit organization dedicated to providing supplies to benefit families in Ukraine. With the help of our community, we can provide assistance to the victims of this war when they need it most.
We call on everyone to come join us and show their support.
Together we can make a difference.
