It’s a destination Iumpsuit. Where are you going ?

A Gwen Stefani concert in Las Vegas. It will make me want to dance.

It’s like a dream.

It is custom made by a local designer, Vivien Jackson.

How would you describe your style?

I love edgy and chic looks with lots of bling and anything flashy.

What else are you glamorous for?

The Tots & Paws Little Red Dress Party this month for the Humane Society of Hamilton County.

Tell me about your recent role on the Rev.

My husband and I had the VIP Pagoda built there to help support the IU Health Foundation. My husband is a cancer survivor so we thought this would bring more recognition to the event and help raise funds. It was my first time attending, and it was off the charts. A super fun experience. Do you want me to tell you about my outfit too?

Sure!

Being so involved and standing out from the VIP event, Executive Director Rev Carol Howard introduced me to Jerry Lee Atwood, and that’s how I ordered him for my [bolero] outfit. I’m thinking of donating it to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum.

Your Instagram handle is @MichelleMissIndianapolis2019. How did you get into pageants and the Miss Indianapolis pageant for Indiana?

This plays into my philanthropy. I had a career in aesthetics for 20 years and wanted to learn more about volunteering. Suddenly, the director of the Miss Indiana pageant contacted me, and after learning that philanthropy played a big role in the pageant, I thought, Why not? Even though I didn’t win, it really started me on the path to philanthropy. Now I own Give First Indy, and it’s been amazing.

The most valuable lesson you’ve learned from entering contests?

I’ve only entered one contest, but the biggest lesson is to not be hard on yourself afterwards. Everyone competes because they want to win. For me, that was not the only reason. I loved the fashion side of course, but when you don’t win or place where you think you should have, it’s tough.

Who is your most trusted source?

I was very shy when I was a kid and somehow I spoke up and got through it. Confidence comes from within you and from your experiences throughout life. At my age, I’m the most confident I’ve ever been.

Your Instagram feed is full of glamorous outfits. What’s your favorite casual look?

Jeans and a nice top, some kind of heel. You won’t often see me in flats.

In a past life, you were a makeup artist. Name a cosmetic item without which you cannot leave the house.

Moisturizing product based on HA5 hyaluronic acid from SkinMedica. I literally take it everywhere I go.

The best trend of the moment?

Sequins. I received the Best Shoes award at this year’s Wine, Women and Shoes fundraiser because I wore Christian Louboutins in sequins.
