Government Employee Donations Reach Nearly $ 590,000 in Annual Charitable Campaign – Newstalk KZRG

JEFFERSON TOWN – The Missouri Office of Administration today announced that this year’s Missouri State Employees Charitable Campaign (MSECC) exceeded donations by $ 588,000, with $ 588,351 pledged to 502 charities across the country. Missouri. Over the past 37 years, state employees have donated nearly $ 34 million to the annual campaign.

“This level of generosity that members of the state team have shown only reinforces what we already know Missouri is one of the best of the best,” Governor Mike Parson said. “The commitment of our team members to this State and the people of this State inspires us every day, and we are proud that so many of them have chosen to support some of our most vulnerable citizens through their own contributions, by especially during the holiday season. “

“It is heartwarming to see how the members of the Missouri State team are going to dig into their own pockets to help those in need,” said the acting commissioner of the Office of Administration, Ken Zellers. “Their generous contributions and dedication to this year’s theme ‘Building a Better Tomorrow’ will enable these charities to reach out to those in need in our communities. “

Other highlights from this year’s campaign:

  • The Ministry of Higher Education and Workforce Development increased its total commitments by more than 60% compared to last year and recorded its highest annual total in the history of countryside.
  • The average donation amount increased for the eighth consecutive year, from $ 217.11 to $ 227.43.
  • 10 of 28 state departments exceeded their total pledges from the previous campaign year.

The MSECC is an annual fundraising effort hosted by the Office of Administration that offers government employees and retirees the opportunity to donate to their favorite charities through the convenience of a deduction from the fund. salary or one-off gifts.

The state of Missouri has a history of philanthropy and a spirit of service. Since the start of the annual campaign, state employees have donated nearly $ 34 million to charities statewide. Donations have exceeded $ 1 million in 18 of the 37 years.
