Golf and pickleball tournaments kick off Iconic Ireland-themed fundraisers for the parade
Rumson, NJ – Since 2013, Rumson’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade has celebrated the region’s Irish heritage with a host of community activities that also raise awareness and fundraise for local nonprofits. To kick off the organization’s fundraising season and the 2022 parade, slated for Sunday March 13, 2022, the Rumson’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee hosted their annual Erin Open Golf Outing and Pickleball tournament at Rumson Country Club Friday, September 10, 2021 The sold-out tournaments included an outdoor buffet lunch on the club terrace, and the Parade Council announced its 2022 beneficiary, Shore House, a unique recovery program offering social, educational and meaningful jobs to restore hope, independence and self-esteem for people living with mental illness.

Shore House, the first of its kind in New Jersey, follows an evidence-based success model established by 300 clubs that includes free membership with no time limits, activities to support friendship and reduce isolation, connections and support to find work, and help to resume and / or complete their studies.

Competitive fun Mark Erin Open and pickleball tournaments
Thirty-three quartets played the course, while more than 30 people played pickleball, followed by a live auction and a barbecue lunch on the patio. Funds raised through the Erin Open, other Celtic-focused events, corporate sponsorships, individual donations and the annual parade advertising newspaper collectively benefit the designated charity, Shore House and the cost of the parade. The committee also provided a grant to the Rumson Education Foundation’s fundraising efforts for the new outdoor classroom at Forrestdale School, as well as donations to the Rumson Fire, First Aid and Police Departments. The committee continues to plan for the March 2022 parade with the continued support of presenting sponsor OceanFirst Bank, and will announce a Grand Marshal later this year. With more than one in five Americans struggling with mental illness, Shore House is a community-based psychosocial rehabilitation and non-residential recovery program that empowers and restores hope, independence and self-esteem for people living with with mental illness.
